Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol also known as CBD is a naturally occurring constituent of industrial hemp (cannabis sativa) plants. It is one of over 80 plus naturally occurring cannabinoids found in Cannabis. It is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and is being scientifically investigated for numerous benefits. Most people have heard of a cannabinoid called THC, which is the ingredient found in cannabis that gets users high. Unlike THC, CBD(cannabidiol) is non-psychoactive and does not cause any feeling of getting ”high” which contributes to its legalization across the United States.

Both marijuana and hemp are forms of cannabis. However, cannabis does not mean marijuana. Cannabis is the genus name and general umbrella term, under which all forms of marijuana and hemp fall. Until recently, delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, was the most well-known and studied cannabinoid due to its abundance in marijuana. However, as the second most prevalent cannabinoid in marijuana and the top non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp, CBD has been gaining momentum in the scientific community and media.

Our CBD products and extracts are derived from industrial hemp (not marijuana), and can also be referred to as CBD-rich hemp oil, hemp-derived CBD oil, CBD-rich cannabis oil, or plainly “hemp extracts,” since they typically contain more than just CBD. However, CBD oil is different from hemp seed oil and organic hemp oil, as these are derived from hemp seeds (not the resin) and do not contain cannabidiol. Again, cannabis doesn’t mean marijuana but is the genus name and general umbrella term which all forms of marijuana and hemp fall under. The form of cannabis we use for our CBD and hemp extracts is industrial hemp; we do not sell marijuana.

All of Vibrant Botanicals high-CBD hemp crops are grown legally in Kentucky, and all products are rigorously tested for safety, quality, and cannabinoid content.

What is hemp oil?

Hemp oil is created from hemp extracts, also known as phyto-cannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids are chemical compounds that interact with the body’s central regulatory system. CBD(cannabidiol) is the most abundant and studied of the 80 plus Phytocannabinoids found in Hemp Oil. This system, also known as the Endocannabinoid system, is known to manage homeostasis and affect overall well-being. Literally bringing balance to your body naturally through nature. There are over 80 unique phytocannabinoids found in hemp.

Numerous clinical publications have published their findings on the effects and benefits of phytocannabinoids. We highly recommend that you do your own research to learn more about the effects of hemp oil prior to your purchase. Note: These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

How does CBD work?

CBD primarily interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, a grouping of millions of cannabinoid receptors found throughout your body, but are primarily clustered in the brain and central nervous system. While CBD is a phytocannabinoid, or plant-based cannabinoid, your body also naturally produces cannabinoids, known as endocannabinoids. Almost every organ of your body, including your skin and digestive tract, contains cannabinoid receptors. The endocannabinoid system has four primary purposes including neuroprotection, stress relief, immune response, and regulating the body’s general state of balance, impacting faculties such as appetite, sleep, mood, and pain.

Unlike THC, CBD does not interact directly with the two classical cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2). This is why CBD does not cause any psychoactive effect. Instead, CBD inhibits the enzymes that break down endocannabinoids, leading to an increase in your body’s naturally-produced cannabinoids.

What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?

“The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors located in the mammalian brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems, consisting of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors.” Wikipedia

There are two main types of receptors in the Endocannabinoid System, CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are primarily located in the central nervous system and brains of mammals, and CB2 are generally found in the peripheral nervous system. There are two main cannabinoids mammals produce- 2AG and Anandamide (named after the Sanskrit term “Ananda,” which translates to “peace”).

For hundreds of millions of years every vertebrate on Earth has been equipped with this ECS, a crucial system in the body, and it has been known about in the scientific and medical communities since the 1980’s. However, it’s still not taught about in most medical schools.

How do I consume CBD?

The CBD oil we offer has a couple different applications. You can hold a sublingual dose under the tongue for 30-60 seconds (recommended for fastest absorption), apply the oil topically to your skin (can be applied directly to a problem area or mixed with your favorite moisturizer), or blend the oil in a health-conscious smoothie.

When does the product expire?

Without refrigeration, the product will last for 12 months. Refrigeration is completely optional but will extend the shelf life of the product to 18 months.

Where do you source your hemp from?

Our CBD oil is extracted from organic hemp plants cultivated on licensed farms in the state of Kentucky, USA – which was historically known as the Hemp growing capital of the world prior to the 1930’s. It’s grown the way nature intended and harvested at peak perfection.

What do people use Vibrant Botanicals Hemp Products for?

The benefits of CBD hemp extract are many, though our bodies are unique, as is the ways that we treat them — from the food we eat to the way we sleep, rest, and work — everyone experiences something a little different. Some of the most common uses for our Hemp Extract products are for relief from everyday stresses, help in supporting restful sleep, recovery from exercise-induced inflammation, and to bring about a sense of calm and focus.

How do you extract the CBD and other cannabinoids from the raw plant material?

Vibrant Botanicals Hemp/CBD Oil is extracted using CO2- which leaves behind no toxins, heavy metals, or chemicals to degrade the product in any way. CO2 supercritical extraction is the safest and the most environmentally pure method used to extract hemp oil. We use low heat so that all the health supporting terpenes and flavonoids remain intact.

Can I give my pets hemp oil?

Scientifically, dogs and cats (and most mammals) have a similar anatomy to humans. Studies in the last decade have shown that the endocannabinoid system can be found in most mammals. Thus, although we are at an early stage of research, hemp oil has been found to have variety of positive effects on animals. Overall, we advise that you do your own research on hemp oil and dosage before trying it out.

Is hemp oil/cbd legal?

Yes. We ship our proprietary organic hemp oil extracts to all 50 states. The United States Farm Bill of 2014 classified industrial hemp as containing less than 0.3% THC. Because Vibrant Botanicals products contain less than 0.3% THC, we are allowed by U.S. Federal law to conveniently ship to your doorstep.
